Fall Hair Care Tips From The Experts

Fall is almost here, which means it’s time for pumpkin spiced lattes, plaid scarves, and some major hair care after the long summer. Summer might add some nice natural highlights to your hair, but all that sun can cause a lot of damage. Now that the weather is cooling down, take some time to do some major hair care. Keep reading to learn the best ways to treat your hair this fall!

Fall Hair Care Tips

Hold Off On The Ponytails

We understand what it’s like to live in a ponytail all summer long — it’s uncomfortable to have a sheath of hair covering your neck when it’s 80 or 90 degrees outside and you just want to pull it up! We get it, but the weather is cooling down and it’s time to ditch the all-day-every-day ponytail or bun. Wearing a ponytail in the same place every day can cause breakage, so now that the weather is cooling down, let your hair down as well.

Nix Those Split Ends

You just spent the last three months with the summer sun beating down on your scalp, so it is likely that your hair is feeling the burn. Split ends are common during summer, and they ruin the appearance of your hair. Make a trip to the salon for a trim to get rid of those split ends and start fresh this fall.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

During summer, many of us try to spend as much time outside as possible. This leads to us neglecting our hair. Who has time for a hot oil treatment when there are mountains to be climbed and pools to jump in?! Now that the weather is cooling down, use this time to put in a nourishing hair mask or even brush some coconut oil or olive oil through your hair, curl up on the couch with a mug of hot chocolate, and put on your favorite show while your hair soaks up all that extra moisture.

Protect Your Hair

If you use heat styling, be sure to spray your hair with a heat protectant first. It can also be a good idea to invest in some dry shampoo to extend the length of your style beyond just one day. However, it is best to avoid heat styling as much as possible. If you aren’t proficient already, spend a cold autumn day inside teaching yourself how to do a few non-heat styles like braids and updos. You can even try your hand at heatless curls!

Focus On Hair Growth

Sometimes hair becomes damaged to the point where it will not repair itself, though you can always make it more manageable by treating it gently and deeply conditioning it. For that reason, it is important to incorporate a hair growth shampoo and conditioner into your daily routine to encourage new hair to grow and your existing hair to grow faster. Make sure your hair growth shampoo doesn’t have any parabens or alcohol, as these ingredients can be drying and cause buildup on your scalp, blocking the follicles and preventing growth (hint: our’s fits the bill!).
