Fall is here, which means it’s officially the Season of the Pumpkin. While pumpkins are great for carving, decorating, and taking artsy photos in front of, they also serve another purpose. Pumpkins can be surprisingly beneficial for your hair! In today’s blog, we’re stepping away from our usual talk about hair growth products and giving you three fun ways to incorporate pumpkins into your hair care!
- Make A DIY Pumpkin Hair Mask
If your hair is looking a little frizzy, it might be time for a DIY hair mask to replenish moisture. What better way to step into fall than with a pumpkin puree hair mask? We get you probably think we’re crazy, but pumpkin is full of antioxidants and vitamins that soothe the scalp and leave the hair shiny, glowing, and smooth. To make this concoction, mix together ¾ of a cup of pumpkin puree, two tablespoons of coconut oil, and a squeeze of honey. You can add a pinch of cinnamon to make this hair mask smell a little nicer. Massage it into your hair, sit back and watch Hocus Pocus, and then wash your hair with a healthy hair growth shampoo and conditioner.
- Bake a Pumpkin Pie and Roast Those Pumpkin Seeds!
Pumpkins don’t just affect your hair from the outside! They also nourish your hair from the inside as well. Pumpkin is jam-packed with beta-carotene, a bright red-orange pigment that converts into vitamin A inside of our bodies. Vitamin A helps cells to grow and replicate, as well helps hair follicles produce sebum which keeps the hair shaft lubricated and strong. They also have a hearty dose of vitamins C and E, which helps fight free radicals and helps the body produce collagen. Finally, pumpkins contain a good amount of iron, which we know is one of the most important essential minerals for hair growth. Pumpkin seeds are also great for your hair, as they too contain plenty of antioxidants, zinc, healthy fatty acids, and lots of vitamins!
- Drink A Pumpkin Spice Latte
Let’s be honest. Nothing soothes the soul more than a Pumpkin Spice Latte from your friendly neighborhood Starbucks. Because stress can contribute to hair loss, drinking a nice, warm PSL is a great way to relieve stress and push out negative feelings. Plus, they’re delicious.
